Longevity through Lo Mein, Bonding through food in tough times, Fair Wages.

This week we mourn the loss of eight innocents, hug your loved ones tighter.
Without getting into further detail, if you know of someone having tough times take a moment to listen, or help find someone who can. Could this be the peak of the maltreatment of Asians that has been culminating this past year? We certainly hope this is where it ends. Sharing a meal is a good place to start healing.
Longevity through noodles.

This may have been your intro to Chinese food, it may be your go-to, it may be your kids meal. Lo mein, along with eggrolls and fried rice are what open doors for the Chinese population. They are almost always served long and uncut because they symbolize a long and prosperous life.

"The word itself comes from the Cantonese “lōu mihn” meaning “stirred noodles” and is actually traditionally made from elastic thin flour or egg noodles. This modern dish has some key differences from its original manifestation. In its earliest days during the Han dynasty, Chinese noodle dishes were made from millet grains instead of wheat. Analysis of the noodle remains reveal the ancient Chinese used specific variations of millet known as broomcorn and foxtail, which are still available today."

Rainbow also serves a house specialty noodle that has more robust flavor variations than our lo mein. Listed under Pan Fried Noodles, you'll find Mein. Here, thin and delicate egg noodles are fried crisp— almost to the point of looking like a bird's nest. Pan-fried mein noodles from Rainbow are smoked with wok hei. It's a flavor that takes time and cannot be made fast, by a machine, or artificially!

Service Charge for all orders.
Rainbow is charging a 20% service charge on all orders to support fair and predictable wages for all staff, and to offset the costs related to the pandemic. Across the board, restaurants have had to change their way of business during this past year. For us, that meant reducing hours of work for our employees, deploying new infrastructure, and building a new website for easier online ordering. We want to be able to provide fair and predictable wages for our staff in this time of uncertainty.

Pursuant to Minnesota Statute Section 177.23, subdivision 9, this charge is not a gratuity for employee service.

Did you know that in 43 states, the tipped minimum wage is lower than the minimum wage—and can be as low as $2.13 per hour?
